Ministerial Screening: Adebayo Shittu, Hon. Khadijat Bukar Abba Ibrahim Screened

The duo of Mr. Adebayo shitu and Hon. Khadijat Bukar Abba Ibrahim representing Oyo and Yobe States only were screened today  by the Nigerian senate as ministerial hon khadijatnominees.

Hon. Khadijat Bukar Abba Ibrahim, a serving member of of the House of Representatives representing Gujba/Gulani Federal Constituency was given a pat on the back in the traditional legislative cameraderie as she only read her profile and told to bow and go.

However, the nominee for Oyo state, Mr. Adebayo Shitu was grilled for two hours by the senate , took time to explain several controversies and allegations against him.

Mr. Adebayo Shitu, a former Attorney General of Oyo state who has also served in the Oyo state House of Assembly and as a commissioner, denied allegations of indictment by a panel of Inquiry which allegedly fingered him in the Ife/Modakeke riot and religious intolerance.

He said he was only advised to temper his Islamic publications to promote peace but was never indicted. 

The 2011 governorship candidiate harped on public morality and advocated erection of a mosque and a chapel for the senate to promote spirituality and godliness among senators. Mr. Shitu took Boko Haramites to the cleaners by denouncing their actions as anti-Islamic. 

Meanwhile, the screening of the former governor of Rivers state, Mr. Rotimi Amechi was never to be today as no memtion was made for his screening. However, Senator Dino Melaye, the senate spokesman has said the APC element in the senate have decided to back his screening.

Mr. Amechi was indicted and recommended for prosecution by  a judicial panel of inquiry set up by the Rivers State Government over alleged misappropriation of public funds running into billions while he served as governor of the oil rich State.
