Nigeria to Establish Defense Space Agency

Nigeria shall join league of space powers going by the bill considered by the senate today

Standing in the name of Senator Ajayi Boroffice Ondo North], the senate debated the bill for an act to provide for the establishment of defense space agency and for matters connected therewith 2016, and referred it to the committees on science and technology; and defense to report in four [4] weeks.

Standing in the name of senator Suleiman Nazif - Bauchi North, the senate debated the bill for an act to established the national commission for conciliation and arbitration, national labour council, the office of the register of trade union, etc. to administer the provisions of labour laws in Nigeria and for matters connected and referred it to the committee on employment, labour and productivity to report within four [4] weeks.

Moreover, the senate considered the repot of the committee on ethics and privileges on a petition from MR. STEPHEN G. BALABACHO and others against the Nigerian national petroleum commission [NNPC] for unlawful disengagement from the service of the corporation and establishment that the petition have no formal relationship with NNPC and as such cannot be helped by the senate because casual staff have no such entitlements sought for.

In the same vein, the senate considered ethics and public petitions recommendation in the petition of Mr.Adamu Abdullahi and other disengaged staff of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for wrongful disengagement of the 135 format staff of NHS followed due process, and it’s result should be upheld and that their disengagement was not as a result of query or any disciplinary action, rather, due to government policy which set out to improve the public service.
